Pioneering bound for the sustainable development

One of the goals of YWAM Ponta Grossa-PR ministry is for full sustainable community development. With the intention of changing the local community, we teach seminars and schools on various subjects and themes. We form social action groups, involving the entire YWAM Ponta Grossa-PR team for community development.  Our social development ministry requires much love, patience, understanding and perseverance, when working with those from financially less fortunate backgrounds and those going through difficult circumstances. With this pioneer ministry, we have the goal of reaching people in all nations on Earth to solve social needs in each community.  While demonstrating the love of Christ and Christian character, we want to serve families in the local community.

In the intention of changing the local and ministerial pioneering, we showed up as a ministry in 2002 and, since then, we have searched to develop a closer and constant relationship with the communities’ needs.

This way, our work programming consists on thematic seminars and Schools. So then, we have our Community Development School “FORMATS” in that we have the proposal to be Forming Social Actors to the Community Development, counting with the cooperation and involvement of all of those who belong to YWAM Ponta Grossa-PR team. In other words, every YWAM Ponta Grossa staff, are automatically involved on the social work for the communitarian development.

Our ministry is marked by the dynamism, perseverance in the difficulties which are naturally expected when we are involved in social work, and also, by the love, which is a fundamental item when we are working with less fortunate communities.

Being inspired by that, we have the goal to reach people and all nations from Earth with this pioneer sustainable proposal and furtherance of each community presenting potential for action, acting responsibly for people's benefit, capacitating families and then, promoting effective actions that reveal Christian attitudes.

Justice and TransformationWe at YWAM understand that fairness and justice is based on Biblical law. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus said “Your Kingdom come, your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven”. That means a Kingdom of God’s values and His love and justice on Earth.

We work toward the goal that our society will be based on God’s values and moral laws. We see the physical, moral, social and spiritual needs of individuals and society as a group.  We understand the urgent daily needs of our people because of unfair social structures.  We think changes need to be made in social areas, such as feeding and clothing the poor, and helping children living in poverty.

As an organization, we do not support any political party.  We refuse to be associated with any political group. However, we recognize the importance of politics in making changes to benefit our people.  In each of our social projects, we believe we are helping to build such justice. For example, improving nutrition to a pregnant mother can improve the intelligence and health of the baby.  Poor nutrition during pregnancy can severely affect the health, brain and physical development of the baby. Poor nutrition during the child’s early years can hurt development of the brain and hurt performance in school.  If parents cannot afford prescription glasses for their child with vision problems, then the child will do poorly in school.  Lack of proper nutrition, lack of B-vitamins in childhood, will also result in poor vision and affect performance in school.

If a child cannot afford music, drama, and art lessons, his talents and full potential may never be achieved.  We at YWAM want to provide the good nutrition, Bible lessons, music, drama, art, craft lessons, tutoring sessions so each child can achieve their full potential and fully develop their talents and gifts from God.

YWAM’s MINISTRY AIMS TO WORK WITH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND WORK TOWARD FULL TRANSFORMATION OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
YWAM’S ministry involves growth in people in four areas: spiritual, social, intellectual and physical.  We believe that justice is not an act or a single action.  It is a legacy of good actions and bad actions through many generations. Injustices committed in past generations create many emotional and psychological wounds and poor self-image of low-income families.  It takes much extra work and prayer to heal the emotional wounds and build the self-image of those from impoverished backgrounds so that they can succeed in school, employment and society.  If everyone in your family has always worked on a farm, or in a factory, it is hard to image yourself a teacher, college professor, doctor or attorney.  A society that does not review its history, repent of its sins and fill in the gaps of injustice in previous generations is condemned to repeat the same mistakes again causing bigger problems.
